Rincon Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
Meet Our Team

Dr. Stephenson earned his MD from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in 2004. He is board-certified in both PM&R and Brain Injury Medicine and holds active medical licenses in California, Nevada, Washington, Utah, Arizona, and Colorado.
Before founding Rincon Rehab, he spent seven years with Dignity Health in Northern California, where he rose to director of the PM&R division and oversaw an inpatient rehabilitation unit.
At the core of Dr. Stephenson's practice is a precision medicine approach to brain injury, one that leverages cutting-edge diagnostics and technology to develop highly individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's specific injuries and personal goals. His multi-specialty TBI program coordinates care across disciplines, ensuring that patients receive not just isolated treatment, but a cohesive, whole-person recovery strategy.
Dr. Stephenson is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R) and the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPM&R). He previously served as both Vice Chair and Chair of the Brain Injury Association of California, the state affiliate of the Brain Injury Association of America. Outside the clinic, Dr. Stephenson's life reflects the same drive and sense of purpose that defines his medical career. An Eagle Scout and former U.S. Forest Service Hotshot crew member, he once guided white water rafting trips on the Colorado River and co-founded both the University of New Mexico Clown Care Unit and the Medical Muse Literary Magazine. Today, he recharges mountain biking, fly fishing, and white-water rafting.otshot crew member, he once guided white water rafting trips on the Colorado River and co-founded both the University of New Mexico Clown Care Unit and the Medical Muse Literary Magazine. Today, he recharges through mountain biking, fly fishing, and white-water rafting.
Dr. Stephenson brings both compassion and curiosity to his patient relationships. "Being able to sit down in front of a patient and listen carefully to their story helps me understand how their injuries have changed their world and the way they live in it," he says. It is that attentiveness, to the science, to the person, and to the possibilities of recovery, that defines his approach to medicine.
